Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – is a nationally recognised unit designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in emergency situations. This essential training teaches participants how to respond quickly and effectively when someone experiences cardiac arrest, ensuring that life-saving actions can be taken before professional medical assistance arrives. The unit covers all aspects of administering CPR, including assessing the situation, providing chest compressions, and delivering rescue breaths.

Additional Information

  • This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

  • Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are approx times.

    Cpr - 2-3 Hours

  • During their independent study, students are supported by the use of study materials and knowledge reviews.

  • Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.  

    Online study:  Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

  • Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

  • The outcome of this training program is a statement of attainment in

    HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 12 months

  • We understand that plans can change, and ocean conditions can vary.

    • Weather conditions:
      If a trip is cancelled due to unsafe weather (e.g. swell, wind, or visibility), you will be offered a reschedule or full refund.

    • Participant reschedules:
      Please provide at least 24–48 hours notice if you need to reschedule your booking.

    • Late cancellations / no-shows:
      Late cancellations or failure to attend may result in loss of payment.

    • Operator discretion:
      All trips are subject to minimum numbers and safe operating conditions.

  • Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

    • Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)

    • Perform CPR on an infant

    Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
